Bermudian female engineer, 23, launches ai AND ROBOTICS startup in dubai
Bermudian engineer, Kameron Young, 23, recently launched her own AI and robotics stealth startup in Dubai called, Tombolo Research FZ LLC.
Tombolo Research is the brainchild of this bilingual engineer who wants to change the tech landscape by representing not only women of color--but women in tech.
“Often times, women of color are not seen in the tech space as it is dominated by men,” stated the Tombolo Founder & CEO. “I believe representation is critical and it is my hope that other young girls and boys of color will be inspired to pursue careers in STEM.”
Tombolo Research will focus on building robots that are geared towards women. The company’s first robot debuted in mid-October at GITEX & Expand North Star 2025 in Dubai to a very intrigued audience. Meanwhile as a startup, Tombolo Research also offers consulting services and educational webinars and in-person sessions for the public and private sectors.
To accelerate its ongoing research and development efforts, the company welcomes public donations to directly support this initiative. “We are keen to develop various prototypes for our initial robot design, but this will be an expensive exercise,” explained Kameron. “By contributing to our R&D drive, the public can play a direct role in shaping technologies that improve lives. We are grateful for donations of any size to help us strengthen our ability to advance cutting-edge technology and expand our impact.”
This is an exciting opportunity for the general public to participate in Kameron’s entrepreneurial journey. Kameron is the daughter of Angela Young and the granddaughter of the late Bro. Kenyetta Young, one of the most respected trade unionists of the Bermuda Industrial Union.
The Founder holds a BEng of Biomedical Engineering, with Honours, from Queen Mary University of London and in November of this year, Kameron graduated from the University of Birmingham Dubai with a Masters of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with Merit.
